Hire Me

Senior Network & Infrastructure Consultant

If you need someone who can design, fix, migrate, or untangle complex infrastructure, you’re in the right place.

I’m a senior network and infrastructure engineer with hands-on experience across enterprise, ISP, MSP, and multi-site environments. I specialise in taking messy, fragile, or outdated systems and turning them into stable, well-documented, supportable platforms.

Whether you’re planning a migration, troubleshooting a critical issue, or just need a second pair of experienced eyes — I can help.

What I Do

I work across the full infrastructure stack, with a strong focus on networks, security, and platforms that actually have to work in the real world.

Core areas I help with:

  • Network design, routing, and switching (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN)
  • Firewalling, VPNs, and perimeter security
  • ISP and carrier-facing connectivity (BGP, multi-homing, resilience)
  • Data centre and on-prem virtualisation
  • Hybrid and cloud networking (Azure / AWS)
  • Voice, SIP, and Teams Direct Routing
  • Automation, monitoring, and operational tooling
  • Migrations, upgrades, and “this was built 10 years ago and nobody knows how it works anymore”

If it involves packets, uptime, or something business-critical breaking at 2am — that’s usually where I get called in.

How I Typically Work With Clients

I’m comfortable dropping in at any stage:

  • Design & Planning – greenfield builds, redesigns, or sanity-checking an existing architecture
  • Migration Projects – hardware refreshes, firewall swaps, platform moves, site consolidations
  • Troubleshooting & Stabilisation – performance issues, outages, weird edge cases
  • Short-term Consulting – unblock a team, validate decisions, document tribal knowledge
  • Ongoing Support – retained or ad-hoc help for teams without deep in-house networking skills

I can work independently, alongside internal teams, or embedded with MSPs and ISPs.

Technical Background (High Level)

I don’t list this to tick boxes — just to give you confidence I’ve been around the block.

  • Networking: Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, Meraki, VyOS, Cradlepoint 5G.
  • Security: FortiGate, WatchGuard, Meraki, OPNsense.
  • Virtualisation & Platforms: VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, Proxmox VE, Docker
  • Storage: NetApp, TrueNAS, Ceph, ZFS
  • Cloud: Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS (compute & networking)
  • Voice: Asterisk, AudioCodes, Teams Direct Routing (SIP)
  • Automation & Ops: PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, SaltStack
  • Monitoring: Observium, LibreNMS, PRTG, SolarWinds
  • Operating Systems: Windows Server, Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat

If you want the full CV, just ask.

Who This Is For (and Who It Isn’t)

Good fit if you are:

  • An MSP or ISP needing senior-level engineering without hiring full-time
  • A business with critical infrastructure but no in-house network specialist
  • A technical team that needs design review or escalation help
  • A company planning a migration and wanting it done properly

Probably not a fit if:

  • You’re looking for the cheapest possible option
  • You want someone to blindly follow a bad design
  • You don’t care about documentation or long-term maintainability

Location & Availability

  • Based in the UK / East Midlands.
  • Available for remote work and on-site engagements (UK)
  • Contract, project, or ad-hoc consulting

Availability varies — short intro calls are the best way to check fit.
