Remotely Locking/Unlocking your front door…

Posted on 20/10/201308/03/2023 by Phil

So over the last few weeks i have been looking at how to lock and unlock my front door. This is handy if your out and a friend wants to drop something off etc, you could also link a CCTV cam to the system etc. but this this im just going to show the parts and the app.

The basic system consists of a relay which will supply 12v DC power to whats calls a strike.

Basically a strike is a standard yale lock but with an eletric motor in in to open and close the lock automatically.

Below i show both the Relay, which i purchased from webrelay and the strike.

With this set up i can press the button on the app “OPEN” and the door will be unlocked for 5 seconds. enough time for someone to open the door etc.
